LSD Family Model
Even in 1923 jokes were made about the LSD, although the name did not have the same connotation it has today.
Individually, the three letters were the abbreviations for the three most important units of currency in use in the United Kingdom at the time: Pounds, Shillings and Pence. The factory used this to imply that you were getting value for money, but the public responded by claiming it would not spend any money at all on such an unattractive car.
LSD stands for Longbottom, Sykes and Dyson, partners of the English manufacturer Sykes & Sugden based in Yorkshire. The car was not much of a success. It had a JAP V-twin motorcycle engine and independent front suspension, hoping to compete with the Morgan, but failed to do so because the Morgan was of higher quality.
